underground
the fact this is quite different to what's gone before leads me to conclude it's a copy of something.
This is definitely influenced by the great Ted McKeever.

what's the plural of femme fatale?
femmes fatale? femme fatales? femmes fatales?
growing old disgracefully. 16 years ago i was probably scornful - now? you go girls!
good time gal with a gun. mmmm.
Elisabeth Shue. an actress i used to like - i used wikipedia to find the name of a film of hers i was particularly fond of (Palmetto) and found she has a daughter named Stella Street - which will make fans of slightly left of centre '90s comedy chuckle.

16 years ago - new book
1996 - book of angels. not sure why - the film, Prophecy, the comic book, Preacher maybe.
hardback sketchbook - 348 x 330 - odd shape.
the inside front cover - a lot in this book was drawn with Rotring calligraphy pens...
..or brush and (Rotring) ink.
copies of Gustav Klimt drawings.
makes me think of Nick Cave.
portrait of a (forgotten) politician
portrait of a playwright.
a lot of the portrait sketches are done by looking at the photograph, but not the drawing/sketchbook whilst most of the drawing is done. this technique is quite hit and miss, but can lead to some interesting results where things don't quite fit properly.
easter then, easter now.
no idea.
again, no idea. this is one of those 'blind' portraits I mentioned, though. hatching, shading and other embellishments are added after the basics are drawn.

book ends
the last few from this particular sketchbook:
unintentional symbolism. really.
nope. can't remember who this was. have no idea what propinquity means.
the internet says we swallow 6 spiders in our sleep in a lifetime. and three of these. that's why your breath stinks in the morning.
an exaggerated, distorted version of a photo of ... kim novak, maybe?
the last one. drawn on the inside back cover of the book. i was loving the pantone markers so much i just couldn't stop.

a vampire in the sun
never a good sign when you have to write the name of the subject on it, is it. Actually my wife recognised this ... thought she was a bit thin though.
a Cathal Coughlan lyric.
Ooh look - a man, alone in some ruins. Any symbolism was genuinely unintentional.
I know what you're thinking - 'it's Lily Allen again'. I'm not a Star Wars guy, so I dunno who this is. I like the way the portrait on the reverse page is bleeding through.
a man. shouting.
a vampire, in sunlight, holding up a crucifix. Huh?
get some sleep!
